Freedom is a way to find yourself and lose yourself all at the same time. Freedom is an escape from reality and or a physical barrier. Some can feel free through art forms other feel free with breaking out in some way. In the Count of Monte Cristo and Blessings explore the theme of escape in different ways.
In the Count of Monte Cristo the main character Edmond Dantes is imprisoned. He has no hope. Dantes is not eating hoping he can kill himself. “For a week since he had resolved to die, and during the four days he had been carrying out his purpose,” This quote shows Edmond rather die than continue to live the life he is living. He starts to hear noises, which at first he doesn't bother as this quotes says. “So many loathsome animals inhabited the prison, that their noise did not, in general, awaken him,” After a while he is busted with hope. He thinks its may be a prisoner escaping and he can get out too. He once again begins to eat and rejoices himself with food. He is now distracting the jailer to have him not hear the noise, in order for him to reach escape.
Second in Blessing the characters feel the emotional escape. They feel the escape of the outside world and feel completely out of reality as said in the passage.” Watch the trees for bright then, TAH-Dah.” This shows the feeling of living and finding a place to escape. In freedom you can free yourself through the arts, and the characters do just that. “ Man I ’ve got to bring my paint up here.” . They lose himself in there art and the beautiful setting is just a great place to do that.
In both excerpts the characters have the feeling of escape. Weather it be physical or emotional they reach freedom.

I like how you explain your quotes clearly in detail. I also like your first paragraph because it grabs the reader in and it wants them to read more.
