PARCC Practice

Literary Analysis

In the books, The Count of Monte Cristo and Blessings both explore the idea of freedom in different ways. I agree that these books have the idea of freedom for many reasons.

First, In the Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond Dantes is trying to starve himself to death, being locked in prison. "It was a continual scratching, as if made by a huge claw, a powerful tooth, or some iron instrument attacking the stones." This quote explains how Edmond kept hearing this noise and immediately had the thought of freedom. Freedom is the thought prisoners think about all the time. It gave Edmond a small pinch of hope left in his life.

It is kind of the same thing in the book Blessings. "Down at Sunset Beach. You can see it flow clear down the mountain 'til it forms a riverbed right on the beach, in the sand. The water looks real clear. Light. Not like the ocean at all. Like it's not suppose to be there, but it is. Then the waves just lap up and catch it, little bit at a time. Then it all changes. Jesse sees freedom on the other side of the valley from where he hiked. Jesse and Rene dream they could get across.

  1. Nice work. Nice transitions.
Why don't you have a short conclusion?
Add some more textual evidence and background evidence in your introduction.
    Nice Job!
