Literary Analysis

Freedom is basically justice and being free. In The Count of Monte Cristo and the Blessings explore the theme of freedom in different ways. In the Count of Monte Cristo, the theme in my words, is to have hope and know in your mind, there will always be freedom no matter the situation you are in or where you are. Also in The Blessings, the theme in my words is that you can attain freedom wherever you are and freedom is also another way of expressing yourself whether it is expressed in art, writing, or reading. The theme is develop by how the characters act and the place they are at.

Art is a great way to express freedom. When you paint or draw your mind feels free. The theme developed by how the characters feel in a situation where they get freedom and a sense of hope. In The Blessings, a quote that supports my theme of freedom is “You see the blue-gray rock. Then straight up the trail, carpeted with ‘golden orange brown’ needles, sniffing the air cool. Watch the trees for bright, then Tah-dah!”. This quote shows how art in Rene’s and Jesse’s point of view is freedom and happiness. You can tell when Jesse is in the woods with all the nature, he feels free. The same goes for Rene.

Edmond Dantes in The Count of Monte Cristo, he felt freedom first hand. The theme in my words, is to have hope and know in your mind, there will always be freedom no matter the situation you are in or where you are, and in The Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond Dantes had a sense of hope and freedom when another prisoner tries to escape also. So this shows the theme of freedom properly.

My theme shows how both passages analyze freedom in many different ways. Edmond, Jesse, and Rene show how freedom affects their lives and express it in ways if art, hope, and happiness. Also freedom is attained anywhere, in the woods, in a jail cell, or in any other place. So freedom can come in hope and happiness!

Freedom is basically justice and being free. Ok, but you can make it better.
